WFMW (Inexpensive 4′x4′ White Board)

.

The new year always brings out the best in me. At least the best resolutions.

To help myself actually stay on track, I’ve gotten organized. I put up a huge (4’x4’) whiteboard behind my desk. A year at a glance calendar is to its left.

Now this could’ve cost me a young fortune, but it didn’t. Here’s where my Works-For-Me Wednesday tip comes in.

The white board did not start out as a white board. I bought an 8’x4’ shower board at Home Depot.  The cost of the board? $12.00. They cut it in half for free.

My generous brother-in-law (bil) screwed it into the wall and framed it with left over molding pieces. It looks awesome. And I’ve used it a lot already! It is great to have enough space to keep writing down items (for the to-do list) as I think of them. It is also FUN to erase the completed items.

The other piece will go into my living room. I’ll probably just nail it into the wall because I don’t want to wear out bil’s generosity. I plan on using this for homework practice and playing games. Wouldn’t it be snap* to play Pictionary on something this size?

For more Works-For-Me Wednesday tips, head on over to Shanon’s website at Rocks In my Dryer. Be sure to leave a comment here if you participate in today’s round of tip-exchange. I want to make sure I go have a looksee.

Oh yes, for those who don’t know, snap now has two additional meanings: cool and you’ve been dissed. In this context it means cool.  J

Oh my goodness! This is a terrific tip! I am definately going to do this. As homeschoolers, we are always in need of more whiteboard space. Each of my children has an individual white board. But I love the idea of one big whiteboard for all of us to use as needed!

Great tip! I could cut up a shower board ( or two) and have a class set of white boards for cheap!

According the Sac. Bee today, the word “awesome ” is no longer acceptable in 2007, but “snap” appparentely is cause it was not listed. So there is my NYR (New Year Resolution) for 2007, stop saying “awesome” (which I said 100 tmes in San Francisco yesterday) & start saying “snap”. Just hope I get the context of it correct otherwise I might be “dissed” & not be consider “cool”.
Have a awesome, oops snap day!

This is a SNAP idea !!! But I have decided that I am just going to put my markers in the shower with me since I do a lot of thinking in there and can multi-task !! =-). My husband and I could write little LOVE notes to each other without worry that they dont see them.
I could remind myself to shave my legs occasionaly in the winter time, ( come-on, anything to keep warm), grocery list, etc…….. Maybe I should just move my desk in the bathroom ????? Susan, you have a wunnerful day !

    Lynette,
I certainly try not to in the winter time. ( shave ). It would take away my extra layer of warmth. Even though at night the POWER SURGES. ( they are NOT hot flashes) keep me pretty warm as it is.
