So Long Status Quo

Hold Me, Jesus, and be my Prince of Peace. (Lyrics)
Jesus, You make me want to be Brave. (Lorna of Rancho, this one is for you.)
Help my faith to be active, Lord, and not useless like a Screen Door on a submarine. (See more… for lyrics.)
“It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine
Faith without works baby
It just ain’t happenin’
One is your left hand one is your right
It’ll take two strong arms to hold on tight
Some folks cut off their nose just to spite their face
I think you need some works to show for your alleged faith
Well there’s a difference you know
‘tween having faith and playing make believe
One will make you grow the other one just make you sleep
Talk about it
But I really think you oughtta take a leap off of the ship
Before you claim to walk on water
Faith without works is like a song you can’t sing
It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine
Faith comes from God and every word that He breathes
He lets you take it to your heart so you can give it hands and feet
It’s gotta be active if it’s gonna be alive
You gotta put it into practice
Otherwise
It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine
Faith without works baby it just ain’t happenin’
One is your right hand one is your left
It’s your light your guide your life and your breath
Faith without works is like a song you can’t sing
It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine
Faith without works like a song you can’t sing
It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine “

This song always cracks me up because my brother is a “lifer” in the Navy and is on a nuclear submarine. The message is good…as are most of Rich’s songs.

That is funny, Theresa.
I am just getting back into music. I forgot how much it uplifts me and is just plain fun!

Rich Mullins is one of my favorites! I have a fun version of the submarine song on a special CD/DVD I have. He and his band/friends are doing this fun game with cups where they clap and snap and clomp the cups around on a table while they sing. Its really fun.

holy smokes! it *is* the way they perform it! I didn’t click the link, cuz you had the lyrics. How fun!
Calling out your Name is wonderful.
Boy Like Me Man Like You
The entire CD of “A Liturgy, a Legacy, and a Ragamuffin Band” - thats the one Hold Me Jesus is from - one of the best songs from that is The Color Green, which I posted on my blog back in April or so
And the final CD “The Jesus Record” that never made it to final production is beautiful as well. There is a song “Hard to Get” that is particularly poignant.
Good stuff!
