Good question. Googling didn't give me an answer. I will keep my eyes open though, sometimes answers come in the most unexpected ways.

So I've been wondering about this. If they wrap paper for extended storage, why is often only every 4th to 5th orange wrapped? I'm talking about store-bought ones. Does this already have the full storage-extending effect, soaking up moisture or what, or is it just former tradition turned branding opportunity?

Might be off-topic (and I'm sure a bit late) but if you'd know more about that, I'd be very interested.

That's fascinating. I love the knock knock joke. The "orange ya glad I didn't say banana" one is a favorite around here.

thanks for the tip...recently I read you should not store oranges in the fridge - but when I left them out on the counter - they went downhill fast. When we used to get our "Christmas oranges" as kids (Cutie type oranges)...they came in an orange cardboard box and each orange was wrapped in green tissue paper.

Theresa,
That's helpful to know that fancy shipped fruit is wrapped in tissue. I was a little nervous about posting my tip b/c I thought it might be dumb.

Good question about my menu planning. When I've actually done the shopping for the week and I actually cook, I DO FOLLOW the plan. I do find it motivating and I spend less at the gorcery store. It would be great to see you at Menu Plan Monday. :-)

I love blogging again too. I'll be answering your other replies soon. I am limiting my reply and blog-reading time until Sunday. TONS of stuff on the must-do this week list. :-0

That makes sense because when they ship them from fancy companies they always have them wrapped in tissue. We use oranges a lot in smoothies, maybe I'll try this. I also am curious about your Menu Plan Monday. When you make that menu do you stick to it? I am going to start doing menu plans and maybe I should do MPM to motivate me! I want to organize my food use in order to budget better. (I made a long post about this). I love that you are blogging again!
