Grateful for 14 Things
June 14, 2008
Grateful living is easy at times and difficult at others. Keeping a gratitude journal helps me in making it easier by purposefully turning my mind into that direction. Practicing gratefulness is practicing one of the spiritual disciplines. This was mentioned last week at our Retreat.
I want to get back into writing down what I’m grateful for. I will use the day’s date to indicate how many things I’ll list.
For the next 30 days I will post what I am grateful for. . . .
- Cool weather this a.m.
- Good health for my best friend Chip
- My health
- 2 loving and capable adult children
- Computer that works
- The declutter work I did yesterday
- Friends that tell me the truth
- Don’t have to drive to work in this economy where gas is $4.57 per gallon
- Attendance at seminary
- Cool, godly, fun, agreeable roommate
- Family/Friends who not only love me, they like me too
- The over-abundant plants that are growing in the planter around my mailbox
- Retreat is done for another year
- Playing whistling games with one of my nieces

Eeep, 14? I might settle for one a day as it’s going to get quite busy but I’ll start off strong.
1) Interesting projects to keep me busy
German recipe magazines as the British seem to be sorely lacking in that aspect of press
2) Diet drinks/foods helping me stay on the straight and narrow while I lose weight
3) computer games
4) sunshine on our balcony in the mornings
5) Fantasy Bath bath bombs
6) good books
7) the ink pen my mother bought me
9) Buttermilk (which does not help me stay on the straight and narrow)
10) Good blogs
11) The big sexy A3 colour printer donated by a friend for my photographs
12) Having enough groceries stored/frozen so as not to worry about the transport strike
13) Chocolate (yes, I might be slightly food obsessed whilst dieting)
14) Time to stop and be grateful
