How can I e-mail you? I have a Bible Study that I wrote when wanting to learn more about fasting. It was a help to me and I’d be willing to pass it along if you’re interested…

I’ve heard Bill Bright speak about fasting several times on the radio, maybe Campus Crusade has something on it? I have been interested too, thinking of Jesus telling the disciples “this type comes out with prayer and fasting”.

Good thought, Theresa.
I do have a book about spiritual disciplines that I am reading for one of my classes.
I haven’t come to the fasting part yet.
Yes, that is an interetsing section on fasting.

Monica, Yes, it is beautiful! I loved taking walks on the grounds. Once I attended a work retreat there.
I heard Micahle Card speak and went to one of their Christmas madrigals which my dd was in.
I have many fond memeories of that place.

How does giving up a food or an activity deepen our relationship with Christ? I understand Advent a bit more, but Lent is something I know nothing about. You have me curious.

Lynette,
I believe the idea behind the fast is to replace the “given up” item with time with Christ.
Lent is a time to prepare our hearts through reflection, fasting, repentence, etc for Easter.
At least that is what I understand. I’ll let you know as I learn more.

Lynette,
This is what I’m hearing about fasting and lent. It is a tool that helps you think more about Jesus. This season is all about Jesus.
