Whiteboard Cleaner That’s Non-Toxic
Recently I wrote about whiteboard cleaning tips. I have another idea and this one is also non-toxic.
This morning I was trying to clean off stubborn notes from my whiteboard. – Yep, I used the green pen (which I should have thrown away.)
I didn’t want to use fingernail polish remover because the smell does bother my stomach and this morning I’m not feeling so great.
Baking soda popped into my head.I’ve used that as a non-abrasive, non-toxic cleaner for other things. I put a bit on my baby-wipe and had a go. Yep – it works!
At some point I will have to spray water on the board to get the residue off, but this is now my favorite way to get stubborn pen marks off my board.

I haven’t. Great idea.
Although I’d have to go out and buy some becasue I don’t use toothpaste; I use tooth soap.

Susan, I’ve heard of that idea from Martha Stewart… she used baking soda to clean the outside of the refrigerator… didn’t know it would work on a whiteboard, though… good to know!

The first thing I did when my son first cleaned his new 3×4 ft whiteboard in his homeoffice was nearly puke from the offesive poisonous chemical smells that filled the room .. then proceded to throw it into the garbage!
Four months later and the whiteboard alas has been a mess, just erasing and schmearing and smudging a crumbly black sludge. TILL JUST NOW 🙂 I can’t believe it! I put apparox 1 tsp Baking Soda into a little throw-away plastic bowl; added 1/2 c cold water; stirred well. I cleaned the whiteboard using a folded-up sheet of Bounty paper towel which i first dipped into the solution, then wrung out. It was like cleaning a window with Windex .. first a melting of the dirt, then a follow-up with dry; then a bit of elbow grease to bring out the shine.
Spankiing new! Thanks.

I’ve found that baking soda is great as a cleaning agent. It’s inexpensive, non-toxic and doesn’t smell. I’m glad that you found baking soda to do the trick!
