Friday’s Favourite’s – 9/10/2010

Hop on over to  Living to Tell the Story to join Friday’s Fave Five. Go here for the details.

These are 5 of my favourite things in no particular order . . . things for which I am grateful . . .

First: I went kayaking at Lake Natomas! Oh yes, I did! Barbie was a great teacher and so patient with me. We had our lunch under a bridge because it was shady there! The time just flew by . . . our 3 hours seemed like 1.5 hours. I had a little trouble getting out of the kayak since my left shoulder is injured. Finally Barbie tipped the kayak to the side and I was able to roll out. Whew! I was worried we’d have to ask some strong guys to yank me out. But we only had to ask them to put the kayak on top of the van.

Second: I had 2 visits with ladies whom I hardly ever see. It was cool to be able to spend time with these ladies (Connie and Jardel) away from the hustle and bustle of church and family. It was encouraging to catch up. It was encouraging to hear how God has  blessed them. It was encouraging for me to tell how God has been blessing me!

Third: Celebrating my niece’s entrance into teen world. All birthday celebrations start with a waffle and ice cream breakfast. Later that day we have dinner and cake. It was soooo fun to gather with family and friends to celebrate, eat, and laugh.

Fourth: The CNC Small Group brochure is finished. New groups will start the week of October 10, 2010. Pick up a brochure in Rudat Hall on Sundays or from the office during the week.

Fifth: My preaching book arrived today. Our senior pastor is giving a class on preaching to four of us on staff. I really like learning with others. I have used this book before and it will be great to go through it again. My pastor, Mike, even had the author for a prof when he was in seminary. During this class I am going to work on my talk for women’s retreat 2011, if I end up being one of the speakers. I like writing. Being in front of people? Not so much.

Ha! Glad you were able to get out of that kayak! It’s really great to have a patient teacher. I tried kayaking for the first time a while back. My husband had to help me out of the kayak :0)
sounds like a great week overall. Enjoy your weekend.

ah birthdays! such joyous occasions. I had this unfulfilled ambition to ride a kayak during my recent island holiday. Maybe later…. Lunch under a bridge sounds very charming.

I’ve always wanted to try kayaking. It sounds like such a nice way to spend the day. Faith, who also posts on FFF is an avid kayaker.

I loved #2. A real blessing being with people of faith you can share with.

I love seeing your FFF, I hope you keep doing them.

I can’t wait to hear more about the preaching class. What book are you using? I’m sure I’d love to hear you speak too.

a visit and sharing of God’s blessings with good friends is always a highlight!

I love birthday celebrations, too. Sounds like your family is quite close.

Waffles and ice cream! Something I haven’t had since childhood – but a favorite memory…..especially covered with chokecherry syrup. Mmmmmmm

Good luck on preparing your teaching!

Your week sounds lovely. I’d love to try kayaking sometime, but first I should learn how to swim :).

Have a blessed week in the Lord!

Well, except for kayaking and knitting …

Anyway, it will be fun to get to know you. Hope to see you at next week’s FFF!
