Thankfully I Am Alive & No One Is Hurt
Like me, you probably know how to protect your house and car from the bad guys:
- Locked doors and windows
- Don’t leave newspapers or mail piling up
- Put lights on a timer
But how in the world do you protect yourself from a car crashing into your home? A high-speed chase between the police and a stolen Mercedes Miyata (or something like that) ended in my apartment bathroom at 1am today.
The breaking of porcelain and walls, the yelling of the cops, and my own screams kept my heart rate at a high pitch for quite awhile. I couldn’t even remember my phone number even though it is written on my cell.
It is now 7 hours after the incident and I have to say, I am very thankful. My Friday’s Fave Five will be centered on this incident.
I am thankful that . . .
1. … the stolen vehicle came through the bathroom and not my bedroom.
2. … the vehicle missed the row of gas meters outside my bedroom window.
4. … no one else was hurt or killed.
5. … a water main was not hit.
It is amazing how quickly it all happened. I didn’t have time to pray. But I did have time to say, “Oh, Lord,”after I screamed. Then I grabbed my dog and got OUT of the bedroom.
I will find out in an hour what the next step is.
So, what are you thankful for today? Leave a comment or link up your post at Living to tell the Story.

Oh wow! What a shock that would have been!! So glad you’re ok, the gas meters and water main were missed, and the damage wasn’t worse. I’m hoping the guy has insurance that will pay for damages.

This is crazy Susan! I can’t help but think how stressful this might have been if you had been here at my house when this happened, you would have had to leave and take care of things- God knows how all these things are supposed to work out.
I’m so glad nothing happened to you and your dog.
We heard the big cement truck that crashed on 101 this week, it is a heart pounding way to wake up!

Oh! glad you’re okay. Amazing how we find things to be thankful for in the face of trouble. And your dog is okay too – that’s additional relief. I’m saying that as an animal lover. Thanks for dropping by my nook. I spent the last hours of the weekend and a whole holiday the day after at a cousin’s so I’m a bit late in my reply, but so glad to read you’re fine after a shocker.
