Grateful 43 – Games
Today’s prompt is a light-hearted one about games. We played a lot of games while growing up. We played games like Clue, Monopoly, Hearts, Checkers, Dominoes and ping-pong. Playing these games helped me to learn strategy, cooperation, and sportsmanship. And of course there was fun, laughter and tears.
I had to really think about this prompt to come up with an answer that applies to my current interests and abilities. So without further ado . . .
I am grateful for three games . . .
ONE. Word Games in general – Bobble and Upwords specifically. I don’t know where my Boggle game boards is. But my daughter makes up paper boards. When my brain is sluggish, playing a round of Boggle gets my brain into working gear. It is HARD to play just ONE game.
TWO. WII Bowling. I do not like to play video games as I am very uncoordinated. But I do like to use my TV to play WII Bowling. When we lived in Puerto Rico, I was in middle school. My brother and I were on a bowling team. We had lovely lavender team shirts with our name on the pocket.I was a decent bowler. And I am able to transfer those skills to bowl a good WII game. I think I will challenge my daughter to a game this week.
THREE. Solitaire. My mom used to play this a lot using a deck of cards. And that is how I learned but it was never something I played a lot. Then when I went to grad school I found out about online spider solitaire. I loved it.
I would play until I either won 3 games in a row or lost 3 games in a row. It was a great stress reliever. And believe it or not, if I played when I was stuck on how to write a paper, after playing for 10 minutes or so, I usually came up with an answer.
Your Turn . . . What games do you like to play? Why?
I am writing a gratitude series titled Grateful 43. I will do this for 43 days. And I will write three things for which I am grateful 4 each topic. Do you see the play on the words 43 and FOR THREE? Go here for the 43 Days of Gratitude JOURNAL Prompts

I never get tired of word games but my favorite is Scattergories. I am currently on a ridiculously high level of the online game Cookie Jam. I don’t play it every day but it’s a good thing to have on my phone if I’m waiting somewhere or just want to kill a few minutes. Our family has always love the card game Dutch Blitz. Our kids have now taken it to their friends around the world and taught them!
