Grateful 43 – Things about my Children
My CHILDREN are now adults, but they will always be my children. It is a privilege to be their mom. And I surprised that they turned out so well despite being raised by fallible parents (like me). I am grateful for these 3 things about my 2 children.
ONE. Gift & Reward. Psalm 127:3 says the Lord gives children as His best gift. I certainly feel that way about my son and daughter, Tim & Elizabeth. I have never regretted having them and I never will. I gratefully & humbly accept these two as God’s gift and reward and as part of my legacy.
TWO. Joyful Awe. Being a mom was the hardest job I’ve ever had. But it was also the one that brought the most joy and amazement. Seeing my newborns for the first time. … Hearing their first “MaMa” that was said on purpose. … Seeing them read or recite their multiplication tables after intense study. … Being there when salvation was accepted. … Watching them figure out how to navigate HARD trials. … All these and many, many, many more moments have brought me and continue to bring me Joyful Awe.
THREE. Friendship. During their growing up years, it was not my job to be their friend. It was my job to be their teacher, parent, protector, and trustworthy guide. I did FAIL many times. And yet now that they are in their adult years, I get to have the privilege of their friendship. My, but that is a sweet reward (for me).
Your Turn . . . Describe why you are grateful 4 your own children.
