MORE vs less: Systems Prevent Work Later On

Day 8 – Still dealing with Email
Day 8 – 31 Minutes of Decluttering = I spent time (again) on emails. This time I set up folders in my gmail account. That way certain emails automatically go to certain folders. I.e. Email from SMUD, PG&E, and Sprint go to my Utility folder. Email from my family go to a folder titled, Family. You get the idea. These emails never make it to the inbox. And when I have unread email in that folder, a bolded number shows up indicating how many such emails there are.
After I finish sorting out my personal email, I will tackle my work email. Setting up folders will mean I can have these emails in an appropriate space. I tend to use my inbox like a calendar. Now with folders, I can put the email in the folder and then delete it after the date has passed.
A big thanks goes to my daughter for teaching me about folders and filters.
