Grateful 43 – Holidays

Day 27 – Holidays
What do you think about holidays?
- Tradition
- Memories of folks who have passed on
- Day off from work
- PARTY!
- Meaningful experiences – because of what the holiday represents
I agree with all the above. And I am grateful for 3 holidays.
ONE. Birthdays. I love celebrating birthdays, especially the birthdays of my family members. I love that we honor the birthday person and make the celebration about him/her. Now that the youngsters are getting older and much busier, birthdays are usually when we are all available to meet up. We have a tradition of having waffles and ice cream as a birthday breakfast and that is fun and tasty way to start the celebration.
TWO. Monday Holidays. This is probably an obvious why: three-day weekend. My Sundays are usually very busy and so having a Monday holiday gives me the chance to recuperate. This is especially true since I tend to do restful things on Monday holidays: read, nap, craft, chat on the phone.
THREE. Christmas. This is probably also an obvious why: Reminder/celebration of Jesus and a time to love on family/friends. I love all the rituals connected with Christmas: Advent, decorating, gift-giving, church programs, caroling, holiday crafting and cooking, sending cards.
Your Turn . . . What 3 holidays are you grateful 4 and why?
I am writing a gratitude series titled Grateful 43. I will do this for 43 days. And I will write three things for which I am grateful 4 each topic. Do you see the play on the words 43 and FOR THREE? Go here for the 43 Days of Gratitude JOURNAL Prompts
