Fridays’ Fave Five – November 1, 2019

It is Friday, so it is time to share five of my favorite blessings from this past week. I do this to cultivate a grateful heart and to say thanks (especially to God). To join me (and others) in this weekly meme, go to Susanne’s blog.

ONE. Voice-To-Text. I am still using this technology to (mainly) express my written communications. It is a bit cumbersome, but it helps protect my hands and arm from too much overuse.

TWO. Skill. I have been tying my own shoes all by myself this past week. It is still hard to put on my socks, but that is progressing as well.

THREE. Car. My car has been returned and it looks good. No sense of it having been burned. And as a bonus, the whole process was seamless, especially when dealing with USAA.

it is too big for Emily, but it sure is cute.

FOUR. Another Skill. I am driving. There is still nerve pain in my right arm, but not enough to stop me. I mainly go between work and home (at most 12 minutes one way).

FIVE. Halloween. My granddaughters are now in VA so I couldn’t go with them as they made their candy rounds. I did get to Facetime them and see their costumes. Then I went to my sister’s home for dinner and a book discussion. I got to see the costume one of my niece’s wore. Afterward, we took a walk. It was a different way to celebrate, but it was lovely time.

Susan, it’s good to hear that your health is returning and you’re gaining strength again. The voice texting was tricky for me at first, but I sure like it now. I send myself notes all the time! I spent Halloween with friends for dinner. The first time I can remember not being home to pass out candy. It was a nice change.

Yay for progress! One step at a time, glad to hear there is more good progress each week. I love voice texting. Face time is so great for when you can’t be there in person. I’m not a Halloween fan of going door to door especially in our unsafe city right now. We only got 6 kids. But it was fun to see how the neighbors dressed up and they even sang me a song for their chocolate.

Praise God for the progress in your hand/arm/shoulder. that is a GREAT blessing.

We had a TON of trick or treaters for a steady 3 hours. But by 7:30 pm all was quiet. We didn’t have our daughters go trick or treating when they were younger. In fact, we actually regret it. I”ll have to tell you why sometime.

    Happy weekend!

So glad to hear your shoulder and arm are improving. It must be encouraging when you can see progress such as driving etc. Voice to text is great, especially when you’re trying to multitask although some of the results can be hilarious. I have a SIL who is blind and she uses it a lot and it translated her husband’s name (Voldi) to folder. We all had a good laugh over that one!

I have not tried voice-to-text, but it would be handy if you can’t use your hands as you used to. I’m glad things are continuing to improve–I know it seems long, but bit by bit and hopefully it will be back to 100%, or at least close, before long. That’s great about your car. Sometimes insurance is a hassle, so I am glad all that went well for you. What a fun costume!
