Friday’s Favourites: January 14, 2011
It has been a month since I participated in Friday’s Fave Five. So today I will most definitley list five blessings from this past week. You can list your own blessings by going to Living to Tell the Story and link up here.
1. Food choices. I have been very good at staying on the anti-inflammation diet for 11 days now. Out of 33 meals I have had processed food twice. I have not noticed any changes to energy or pain level yet. However, Dr. Sears said it could take a month.
2. Friendship. God continues to show me how blessed I am to have caring, committed friends in my life. I was able to spend some face-to-face time with Lori this week. She makes me think. She shows me (in actions) how much she cares for me. She is honest with her feelings and thoughts. She cares about pleasing God. All these traits are ones I want to emulate.
3. Movies. Sometimes I come home from work with a brain that won’t shut off. Watching a movie helps me to slow down and think about something else. This week’s offerings were Going My Way, Ratatouille, Protocol, and Inception. The 1st three were from my own stash. I turn on a movie and listen/watch while i am making dinner and doing a few chores. It helps me to get into a different mind set for the evening.
4. Partnering. At work I have more responsibility in one of the areas I oversee, children’s ministry. However, God has generously given me a partner, Pamela. I cannot believe how much the two of us have accomplished in these past weeks. Partnering with a compatible and energetic person is totally awesome!
5. Writing. I made time to write 2 blog posts (besides this one). I enjoy writing, but it is a busy season and so not much time for extra activities. However, last night I spent the evening writing (instead of cleaning or sleeping) 10 Reasons Why Involvement in Your Church Nursery is Important. The 2nd post was a simple one on 7 New Small Groups Added to CNC’s Small Group List (January 2011). I am glad I was able to do some writing as writing makes me happy.
Your Turn . . .
Please leave a comment telling us a blessing or two that you have from this past week.

Writing makes me happy, too! That was one of my five this week. And I know what you mean about those special friendships. They’re a real blessing.
Have a great week.

Thanks for visiting, Laura. Now that the holidays are over we can both get back to writing. At least that is my hope and goal.
BTW – I know what you mean about balance. I have been striving to have a daily to-do list that is realistic and focuses on the whole me. In other words, balanced.

Nothing beats a great partner in ministry work.
Food choices reminded me of a website about the glycemic index. It gives list of food from low, medium to high to help reduce inflammanation.

Agreed. I have also enjoyed working with you in the past on the Tea and Power of a Praising Women small group. And I enjoyed your help several weeks ago for getting together names for cm and nursery. You were spot on in many cases.
Thanks for the ink. I will check it out.

I enjoy writing too but I need quiet time to reflect in order to get any good writing done, and that is not always easy with the busy lives we lead!

I need that quiet too. Sometimes I wake up with an idea or get an idea mid-day and I just have to write it. A few times when that happened, life was too busy and I was never able to recapture those thoughts.

Food choices make a surprising difference in your health. I’ve made changes in the past three months and am amazed I’ve lost weight and my blood pressure has gone down.
Watching a movie is a great way to relax!
