5 Reasons I Love My Home

. at . 10 comments

I have lived in 35 (maybe more) homes in 3 countries and 5 American states. I’ve lived in my current northern Californian home (a one bedroom apartment) for 16 months. Today I will share 5 reasons I love my current home.

  1. Cleans quickly. Because it is a small place, it doesn’t take long to clean. This is very nice because it never takes long to make it messy either.
  2. Comfy. My apartment home has just the right amount of furniture to meet my needs. It has enough shelving (in bookcases and kitchen cabinets) to house my eclectic mix of books. I have enough closet space for my clothes. (Have you ever heard a woman say this?) And it holds my memories. My daughter made time to hang up pictures, photos and shelves for collectables.
  3. Neighbors. That is something an apartment complex provides – easy access to lots of people. This can be good or bad depending upon the complex. I am fortunate. My neighbors are a friendly, quiet (during quiet hours), interesting lot of people. I am enjoying this easy access  to getting to know neighbors and their animals.
  4. Shower/tub. I’ve lived in a home where the shower was non-existent or where the water flow was a mere dribble no matter what fixture you used. I’ve lived in homes that did not have a tub or where the tub was not functioning. And in one place it was expensive to run the water and to heat it. Not in this home! It is not expensive to use hot water to bathe. I have a combination shower tub. So no matter the mood or need I can meet it in my current home quite easily. I have always been a water baby and so having this easy, constant access is quite important to me.
  5. Washer/dryer. My apartment has a tiny laundry room off the kitchen. I am grateful, grateful. grateful for this. I love being able to do my laundry no matter what the time of day and to do so with ease, safety, comfort and without a roll of quarters.

Your Turn  . . .  What do you love about your home?

This is the 1st post in the “5 Reasons I Love . . .”  Series.  Go here for the original post which explains how this idea came about. Tomorrow’s post is 5 Reasons I Love My City (Feb 16).

So glad you have a cozy, comfortable, functional apartment. Kirsten Dirst have some fabulous YouTube videos about living in small spaces. They all make me want to get rid of a bunch of things.

      Here’s one of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNOWFie9n9c

Thanks for this information, Denise. I never heard of Kirsten Dirst before. Yikes. 90 square feet is tiny! I still need to declutter and am looking forward to my home being even more comfy and functional.
I will check out her other videos to see what ideas I can grab and use.

Having a washer/dryer in my apt was a must when I was looking for this home. So blessed to have this and the other “ingredients” that make up my place to live.

Yes, that is certainly a grand point, Marsha. Once I own a house your point will probably be my #1 thing I love about me home.
