Searching for Five Favourites Remind Me to Say Thanks

Once again I search my past week for 5 favourite people, events, literature, etc. This exercise reminds me I have much to be grateful for.  Five favourites from this past week . . .

1. My kiddos. I spent time with my son and daughter on my weekend. We live about 1.5 hours from each other and time together does not happen often enough. On Friday night my son and I had dinner with my daughter at her place. We were joined by 3 of her friends. They get together most Fridays and cook for one another.

2. Sight seeing. On Saturday my daughter and I spent time exploring Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Lots of lovely stained glass windows, 2 labyrinths, miles of wooden pews, huge doors with metal work and lots of nooks for prayer. The gardens were in bloom and gorgeous.

3. Two movies.  On Saturday I saw Harry Potter Book 7 Part 2 with my daughter. I went in knowing who was going to die and it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the film at all. I don’t like those kinds of surprises. Yes, I typically read the last pages of a novel after I read the 1st chapter. I want to see who is going to be around at the end. Reading these pages helps me know if it’ll be worth my time to read the book.

The Smurfs was a fun movie to see with my 4th grade niece on Thursday. We also shared a popcorn with 2 trays. You pour the popcorn from the bag into a cardboard tray so you can doctor your serving however you wish. They now have seasonings to put on the popcorn: white cheddar, nacho cheese, ranch, kettle corn and caramel.

4. Small Group. My Wednesday night small group is going through the 66 Love Letters by Dr. Larry Crabb. We are gelling as a group. This encourages me, gives me energy, and prompts me to make sure I am ready to share on Wednesday nights.

This past week we had a potluck. (We do this once a month now.) That way we can spend time with the other 66 Love Letters group. It was great visiting with all the gals, being silly, and eating with “people” besides Chip.

5. Niece. On Thursday Emily spent some time with me. I always enjoy her company. While I did my exercises in the pool she swam around me like a fish! So much more fun  this way. While I studied, she watched some of the movie Searching for Bobby Fischer and played chess on the computer. She even beat the computer at one game! Before catching a 9 pm movie we even had time to wash my car (15 minutes flat!). The time flew and it was a lot of fun.
