Searching for Five Favourites Remind Me to Say Thanks
Once again I search my past week for 5 favourite people, events, literature, etc. This exercise reminds me I have much to be grateful for. Five favourites from this past week . . .
1. My kiddos. I spent time with my son and daughter on my weekend. We live about 1.5 hours from each other and time together does not happen often enough. On Friday night my son and I had dinner with my daughter at her place. We were joined by 3 of her friends. They get together most Fridays and cook for one another.
2. Sight seeing. On Saturday my daughter and I spent time exploring Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Lots of lovely stained glass windows, 2 labyrinths, miles of wooden pews, huge doors with metal work and lots of nooks for prayer. The gardens were in bloom and gorgeous.
3. Two movies. On Saturday I saw Harry Potter Book 7 Part 2 with my daughter. I went in knowing who was going to die and it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the film at all. I don’t like those kinds of surprises. Yes, I typically read the last pages of a novel after I read the 1st chapter. I want to see who is going to be around at the end. Reading these pages helps me know if it’ll be worth my time to read the book.
The Smurfs was a fun movie to see with my 4th grade niece on Thursday. We also shared a popcorn with 2 trays. You pour the popcorn from the bag into a cardboard tray so you can doctor your serving however you wish. They now have seasonings to put on the popcorn: white cheddar, nacho cheese, ranch, kettle corn and caramel.
4. Small Group. My Wednesday night small group is going through the 66 Love Letters by Dr. Larry Crabb. We are gelling as a group. This encourages me, gives me energy, and prompts me to make sure I am ready to share on Wednesday nights.
This past week we had a potluck. (We do this once a month now.) That way we can spend time with the other 66 Love Letters group. It was great visiting with all the gals, being silly, and eating with “people” besides Chip.
5. Niece. On Thursday Emily spent some time with me. I always enjoy her company. While I did my exercises in the pool she swam around me like a fish! So much more fun this way. While I studied, she watched some of the movie Searching for Bobby Fischer and played chess on the computer. She even beat the computer at one game! Before catching a 9 pm movie we even had time to wash my car (15 minutes flat!). The time flew and it was a lot of fun.

Hey, I just saw HP myself. The rest of the family watched it in the States and I watched it in Thailand. A long story, but it worked. Quite fun! Hope you had a blast in San Francisco. We used to go to First Baptist there in 87-90 when we left.

Sounds like a real good time with your loved ones this week. When I was in San Francisco I visited Grace Cathedral and was really happy to have stumbled upon it. Those front doors were amazing. It was bitter sweet to see the last HP film…
Have a wonderful weekend…

That Larry Crabb book sounds interesting — I’ll have to look it up. We’ll have to put Grace Cathedral on our list. We don’t often get out to the West Coast, but it’s nice to have a list of recommended sites when we do. Have a great week ahead!

I always feel better knowing other people read the end of the book first. I do that sometimes, too:O)
Your day at Grace Cathedral sounds lovely!

Hi-So glad you were able to spend time with Elizabeth and the Grace Catherdal sounds wonderful.
Did not post my 5 fave hymns, just too hectic of a day. I did my 5 fave blog photos. Unfortunatly no captions, I had trouble with it and no patience with the computer.

You are having so much fun with your niece! Lucky you to live so close.
1 1/2 hours isn’t so very far away from your kids. (Mine are all much farther.) What a wonderful time you had to spent with them; I know you treasure it.

I keep hearing about 66 Love Letters — I should check it out. How neat to have potlucks and more opportunity to fellowship. I’m glad you got to spend time with your kids and niece.

Time with my daughter who doesn’t live at home doesn’t happen near often enough, either. Glad you had a wonderful time with your kids. The cathedral sounds like it was beautiful.
You made me smile when you said you read the end of the book. LOL.

So, I’m not the only one who reads the end of a book first? I don’t do it always but sometime curiosity overwhelms me.
It sounds like you had a wonderful week with family, friends and bible study. What a blessing!

It’s so nice to have time with the people we love. I just spent the weekend with family, and we’re all tired, but still smiling. I’m glad you enjoyed the movies, dinner, and the cathedral.
Your small group sounds like a wonderful blessing!

At least you have seen a Harry Potter film, I have only had my breakfast where the film was made, lol ! Sightseeing tours are great because you can hop on and off and if you do it twice once on the left and once on the right side you see much more ! I liked San Francisco very much, but didn’t do a sightseeing tour.
