1 Day To My 50th Birthday

Discovering who I am as a spiritual being is very important to me. Growing in knowledge and maturity are constant thoughts and goals. However, I want to make sure that all this knowledge and growth do not stifle or snuff out my love for God and others.

Here’s my list of SPIRITUAL goals for this very special 50th year . . .

  1. Tithe (over & above regular tithe) to BTN and Missions 6 times
  2. Read through Bible in 90 days w/ sm
  3. Reflect on day 3 x’s a week
  4. Go on a missions trip
  5. Study Genesis w/ lv

What are some spiritual goals you’d like to accomplish/implement this year?

Curious about my other goals? Go to the following to read my list for educational, finances, organize, others, outings, or personal

Well, as always, I am trying out new spiritual disciplines. This year I am exploring liturgical prayer – using prayer books and joining in with fixed hour prayers (participating in the morning, noon, evening, and night prayers that much of the church does). THis is such a different way of praying than I am used to, and I can feel myself stretching and growing because of it.

I am also looking forward to reading the rest of the chapters in a book on missions that I used for a class a few years ago. We didn’t read every single chapter for the class, and I’ve always wanted to go back and read more of the material. So that will be my other “summer school” project.

That class got me so excited about the kingdom of God and its growth and how powerfully He is moving in our world. It is easy to get discouraged as a western Christian, b/c we see his kingdom in decline. But man, o man! He is movin’ and shakin’. If you want to get encouraged – hang out with missionaries! Or read their essays. So – that is my summer project.

Thanks for sharing all your lists!

    Doodah,

My oh my, your summer school is intense.

I had one missions class (perspectives class) at WJU. The “textbook” was awesome and “growing” as well. It gave me new ideas to think on.

The class was taught by a missionary to Cambodia. His take on spiritual stuff was also very different from what I had been raised with.

It will be cool to hear your take on fixed prayer and how that is “changing” you. Hey your nickname could be “Daniella.” Hope you don’t have to face any lions on account of your praying to the one true God. 🙂

    Lynette,

    I like your #52.

Today I think I’ll celebrate completing my “series list of posts” by writing something else, say a 15-20 page paper for one of my classes.

Today will be a long day.
