Friday’s Favourites: November 26, 2010
Since this week is Thanksgiving, it’s a natural time to express gratitude. Here are five reasons I am grateful.
Reason 1. Wednesday after work my sister (Jenny) and I drove to Emeryville together – just the two of us. Even though we left the city with most of the other commuters, it only took us half an hour longer to reach our destination. It was a great opportunity to catch up and have an extended visit. I really LIKE my sista.
Reason 2. Mark (brother-in-law) and my nieces drove to Emeryville (where my daughter lives) earlier on Wednesday. They along with my daughter (and son?) cooked up the Thanksgiving feast. By the time Jenny and I arrived they had already eaten. We enjoyed the fruit (turkey, stuffing, potatoes, etc) of their labor.
Reason 3. We took all Wednesday night’s left-overs to the ocean on Thursday for the REAL Thanksgiving Day (according to the calendar). Sand, sandwiches, fire pit, walking, good company. Another great Thanksgiving day.
Reason 4. Silliness. Laughter. Play. With family who are also friends.
Reason 5. Both my kiddos are happy.

I let last week get away without expressing gratitude on my blog. It was in my heart though.

1. My son (Tim) visited. I am enjoying his spontaneous trips to my city. I know he is here doing work, but I sure appreciate Tim taking time to spend time with me. Chip appreciates it too.
2. Early Thanksgiving dinner at my apartment complex. I even won one of the raffle prizes, a movie basket which included popcorn, coke, raisinettes and a gift card to Blockbuster.
3. Finished another requirement for consecration. Attended a two-day seminar about “Growing Healthy Churches.” It was a bonus that I learned a few things and enjoyed meeting some new people. The attention to detail made it a pleasant experience for the attendees.
4. I found turkey for $0.68 a pound. Needless to say I bought one and that’s what I am taking to Thanksgiving dinner along with Green Stuff and sweet potatoes.
5. Cellphone with headset. Now that I have a headset, I can visit with friends when I am stuck in traffic. Nowadays I look forward to such times. It’s easy, inexpensive, great use of time, and an encouragement to talk to friends and family without being tied to a landline.

You did a double! 🙂 Lunch on the beach on Thursday must have been beautiful, we are having some amazing weather (although a little cold) here in San Francisco.
I just got a hands free device for my car as well. Its a device that attaches to the visor so I can catch up on phone calls on my commute too. I’m so excited about that!
